Solving Paper Problems
Multifunction printers may be powerful, efficient workhorses, but they have one weakness: paper.
That sounds like a contradiction–after all, aren’t printers and paper supposed to be the best of friends? Well, the truth is that, while your multifunction printer loves fresh paper, it’s not so happy about paper that has been stored, loaded, or chosen incorrectly. Luckily, this means you can stop one of your biggest printer pains–paper jams–just by solving paper problems.
Here are a few ways to take good care of paper, and, by extension, your multifunction printer!
Store paper safely.
Paper should be stored in a clean, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from drafts or air vents. It should be left in its packaging until you need to use it, and, once you open it, you should store it in an air-tight container. Your printer will thank you!
Load paper correctly.
Don’t load paper into your multifunction printer at the wrong angle; this can quickly lead to those pesky paper jams. Also, avoid loading bent paper, which is basically a recipe for disaster.
Buy the right paper.
Multifunction printers are like picky eaters: they only want the right kind of paper. Check your user’s manual to find out what types of paper are best for your picky printer.
